Massacre -part 1-

As for 'massacre', though this word is so frequently used among Kosovers and the people who are involved in this war as 'guardians', its definition is quite suspicious. Usually this word refers 'a fatal offensive action against noncombatants'. Kosovers mention that Serbian paramilitary killed 'innocent' 'women and children' with 'knives' in a 'terrible way'. On the other hand, some Serbian Kosovers doubt about the fact of massacre itself. As far as we checked, (and as lots of medias confirmed) it is true that Serbian paramilitary killed lots of women and children without using guns. We've heard lots of terrible stories (like paramilitaries did football with a man's head, they killed a child with dividing their head into two, pulled a baby up from a pregnant woman, etc.). There are no point of defending them in terms of their method. However, in terms of 'reasons', there is still a room to be discussed; if there was a clear definition between combatants and noncombatants. We came across lots of 5-8 years old Kosovo children who are excellent at using fireworks and who dare to use it against people. Also it is true certain numbers of people (noncombatants) had guns for protecting themselves. Also lots of KLA fighters came to their home village with civilian clothes, then sometimes they fought with that style. Furthermore, police and military (also paramilitary) had authority to attack them as terrorists. The standard of how to recognize combatants down there were quite difficult and vague. Also the 'guerillas' and their supporters didn't understand this point. It is a question if they made enough effort to clarify them as noncombatants in Western sense

Conclusion of this page:

It is 100% possible to prove that the method was too extreme, however, there is vagueness about victim's identity as 'noncombatant' in Western sense.
